Benefits of Digital Recorders NJ

Fast access, automated searches

Unlike tape-based systems, digital recorders capture surveillance video directly to high-capacity hard drives that can store far more video in a given space. In addition, digital recording allows you to instantly access any video, without fast-forwarding or re-winding tapes. Better still, you can use the built-in software to quickly search through stored images, instead of scanning hours and hours of tape. And in networked security systems, you can easily transmit any digitally stored video to remote monitors or locations.

AACOM tests all cameras and devices before installation for business camera systems including : Panasonic - Sony - JVC - Samsung- Sanyo - Pelco - Dedicated Micros - Tempest - PcOpen - etc

Digital recording systems also allow for archiving of images on multiple media, including DVD-RAM, CD-R, and flash card.

Before you select an HDDR you should consider the following questions, which may impact your purchasing decision (answers based on our 16 camera digital recorder):

Will remote monitoring be required or useful? Would I like multiple remote users to connect simultaneously?

Generally the answer is yes. If you have never experienced the value of remote monitoring you may not be aware of all the benefits associated with this feature. Most High Definition Digital Recorders supports simultaneous system access by multiple remote users. Remote users may view live and archived video through a wide variety of connection types. These include DSL, cable modem, LAN, WAN, dial up, and the Internet. Users can readily view live and archived video without distortion or loss of overall image quality. Our remote view software is a powerful tool for organizations with off site surveillance personnel. This software allows remote users to monitor predefined areas while operating their computer or client terminal in a normal fashion.

Do I have a use for remote video storage?

Few HDDR's allow remote users to locally store and copy both live and archived video files. Our HDDR empower authorized remote users by enabling them to save live and archived video to their local computer. Imagine you are the district manager of a large chain of department stores. From the comfort of home, you are completing a weekly review of high risk areas at each store when you notice something unusual. You see a man returning a coat and instantly remember seeing the same man returning a coat at another store. You continue your review to find the same man returning merchandise at another three stores. Immediately you save the video clips to your local computer. Upon typing a security alert memo, you attach the video clips to your email and send them to the security officers at each of your locations. By Monday they have reviewed the video clips and have distributed a printout of his picture. The next week you receive a call from a store manager who indicates the man has been picked up and connected with a string of recent thefts and false returns.

Will the HDDR operate on or reside independently of my network?

Many IT managers will not allow a Windows 98 based video server to reside on their network for security and stability reasons. The High Definition Digital Recorders has been designed around the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform. Microsoft Windows 2000 provides greatly enhanced network security, an average 50% reduction in system downtime, and a dramatic 32% improvement in overall performance.

Do I have a use for a digital control output upon alarm or motion detection?

Digital control outputs can be used in alarm situations in conjunction with a variety of external devices and security monitoring services. For example, a digital output can be programmed to notify monitoring stations, activate sirens, turn on lights, and dial pagers. The HDDR support up to 8 digital outputs for alarm control. These digital outputs can be programmed to activate a number of devices upon the systems receipt of an alarm signal or the detection of motion. For example, upon motion detection the system can be programmed to activate a siren or alert a central monitoring agency. The duration of the digital signal upon alarm may also be preset by the user so the alarm signaling or response device can be turned off automatically.

Should I be recording video continuously or using a motion detection feature?

Your answer to either of these questions may rule out a number of HDDR. HDDR give users the option to record from a schedule, continuously, or upon the detection of motion. However, the use of the motion detection feature is recommended as users are able to record an identical amount of useful video while elongating video storage times. Users may also define multiple motion detection zones and adjust the detection sensitivity by camera number.

Could the recorded video potentially be used in a legal action?

If so, a watermarking or other anti-tampering feature should be required. Our High Definition Digital Recorders supports digital watermarking to prevent video tampering. This feature helps prosecutors immensely when using your video as evidence in a legal action.

How many frames per second do I want to see? Would real time viewing or recording benefit my application?

Highly active and high risk areas usually benefit from real time viewing and recording. The HDDR supports real time viewing and recording. Most users of video surveillance systems require higher recording frame rates when filming active or historically high risk areas. However, it is not always optimal to record inactive or relatively safe areas at a high frame rate if the amount of available video storage is a concern. For this reason, users of the HDDR have the option of configuring each camera to record at speeds from 1 to 30 FPS (Frames Per Second).

What resolution do I want to capture video at? Will I want different resolutions for different cameras?

This can be an especially nice feature for high risk areas. Our High Definition Digital Recorders allows users to select the resolution at which individual cameras will record. Valuable storage space may be conserved when specific cameras are programmed to record at lower resolutions. It supports resolutions of 320x240 and 640x480.

How will my HDDR be secured?

Typically, a video surveillance system is only as secure as its surrounding environment. The system is enclosed in an industrial grade high performance aluminum rack mount case. Additionally, the cases handles are designed to fold inward allowing the system to be stored in any standard rack mount enclosure.

Will I need multiple levels of security for different types of system users?

Most organizations require different levels of passwords for system administrators, guards, occasional users, and remote users. A password hierarchy allows the systems administrator to grant privileges based upon the specific needs of a user group. The High Definition Digital Recorders have a four level password hierarchy designed to prevent specific users from performing unauthorized functions. This feature when used in conjunction with Microsoft Windows 2000 makes the worlds most secure video server.

How long will I need to store the video?

If long storage periods are required, a set of removable drives in your HDDR may be a wise investment. While video storage requirements should be determined by each unique organization, our HDDR are equipped with a standard 80GB removable storage drive. The High Definition Digital Recorders have unlimited storage potential. Before deciding on video storage requirements, we recommend system users to consult our company needs and storage upgrades that may be necessary.
